A Mother’s Day Prayer

Heavenly Father,

We thank You for not only being the One, True God of the universe, but we thank You for being our Father in Heaven and on earth. It’s because of You that we have breath in our lungs. It’s because of You, that we have life on this day, and eternal life, in Heaven with You. You are such a good, caring, kind, patient and faithful Father.

We thank You!

Father, today we come to You, thanking You for allowing us to become a mother. Though the task can be challenging, it can also be rewarding. We know that our children are not our own, but are Your’s, whom You have entrusted us with raising. Nights can be long. The cries can be loud. Providing every need can feel impossible………….. BUT GOD. You show up EVERY time. You provide just a bit more strength, just bit more endurance, just a bit more resources……………. just a bit more of Your glory and grace, in the moments that we need You the most.

For those that have lost a child, we pray that You forever, wrap Your arms around her. We ask that the Holy Spirit comfort her, uplift her and that any residue of guilt, shame or bitterness, be replaced with the surrendering of Your Will. She may never understand why her child has been taken, but may she always know, that You are with her still, and that though it may be a mystery, You were in control then, and You are in control know, allowing ALL things to come together for her good and for Your glory!

For the mother who desires to be a mother, but have not yet, experienced motherhood, due to known or unknown reasons, may You remind her that You hear her prayers. You see her fasting. You have collected her tears. Yet, may she also reflect on what you did for Sarah and Elizabeth, in their old age, realizing that time has no hold on Your promises.

For the mother who cries out every night, praying prayers of deliverance and protection of her prodigal child, may You assure her that You are a Father who leaves the 99 for the one, lost sheep. May you assure her, that her child is not only covered by her prayers, but that her child is covered by the Blood of Jesus.

Father, we don’t take this calling lightly. Many times, we want to give up. Many times, we feel unequipped. Many times, we feel unseen. Many times, we feel unappreciated. BUT GOD…………..
