Vengeance Is All His!
The Bible teaches us that God's vengeance is an expression of His justice and righteousness, but what does that even mean? The world teaches us that God is loving and slow………very slow to anger. As a matter of fact, the world tells us that no matter what sins it is that we commit, Jesus’s blood automatically covers them. We have been taught that forgiven sins are void of consequence and will forever be forgotten by God. But is this Biblical?
God's vengeance refers to His righteous response to sin and evil. It is not motivated by anger or a desire for revenge but rather by His commitment to upholding justice. The Bible frequently speaks of God as the ultimate judge who will bring about justice and punish evildoers. Well, you may be wondering, who are evildoers? Evil doers are those that consciously sin against God; those whose hearts are not postured toward the Most High God. Could this be you?
God's vengeance serves several purposes, such as bringing justice to those of us who have been wronged. It provides comfort and assurance to the victims of injustice, knowing that God sees our suffering and will ultimately bring justice…………… BUT, in His timing.
God's vengeance serves as a deterrent to evil. Knowing that there will be consequences for our actions, we may be more encouraged to live righteously and to avoid committing acts of sin/injustice, towards God, ourselves and to others. While the thought of God's vengeance can seem contradictory to His unconditional love, grace and mercy, it is important to understand that these attributes are not be taken advantage of or looked at as a weakness. God is NOT, nor could ever be weak! God's love and mercy are demonstrated through His patience, forgiveness, and willingness to offer redemption to those of us who repents.
However, God's love and mercy do not negate the need for justice. God's justice is an expression of His love for righteousness and His desire to protect the innocent. In this sense, God's vengeance can be seen as an extension of His love and mercy. As daughters of God, we are called to trust in His justice and not seek vengeance ourselves. The Bible teaches us to leave room for God's wrath and not take matters into our own hands. Instead, we are called to forgive and show love to our enemies, leaving the ultimate judgment to God. Now, showing love to our enemies may look different, depending on the specific situation. Remember, forgiveness does not never mean reconciliation.
God's vengeance is a complex and often misunderstood concept. It is important that we approach this topic with a Biblical, rather a worldly understanding of God's justice, love, and mercy. While God's vengeance serves the purpose of bringing justice and deterring evil, it is always motivated by His love for righteousness and His desire to protect the innocent. As daughters of God, we are called to trust in God's justice and leave room for His wrath, knowing that He will ultimately bring about justice in His perfect way and timing.
PEACE and BLESSINGS to you, sis!
